Home Birth or Hybrid Care
The midwifery model of care is a family centered approach to pregnancy and childbirth that emphasizes the relationship between the midwife and the woman. It's based on the idea that pregnancy and birth are normal life processes and that women's bodies are well-designed for birth, while watchfully assessing when extra support may be needed. Upholding these truths is at the heart of my care. I believe you have innate wisdom and knowledge that knows how to grow, birth and raise your baby. My role is to listen, hold space and guide you as needed in the myriad of choices available to you. Striking a balance between up to date, modern research in midwifery care and the time honored wisdom of non-allopathic remedies and healing.
Prenatal
Comprehensive prenatal care including typically 10-13 visits, blood work and prenatal testing, nutritional counseling, childbirth education, referrals to other providers as needed, and more… Appointments are scheduled for one hour, giving us plenty of time to answer any and all questions and build trust together leading up to the birth. You will have the choice to do attend your visits in my office or opt for all in-home care for an additional fee.
Home Birth
I will arrive at your home during active labor and stay until several hours after birth, monitoring the well being of you and your baby through labor and into the immediate postpartum until everyone is stable and tucked into bed, ready for rest. I will hire another licensed midwife in the community to assist me in serving you.
Postpartum
I care for you and your baby through six weeks postpartum, offering breastfeeding support, newborn screening, well-woman care, mental health checks and more. The average postpartum schedule is a two day in-home visit, followed by visits at two and six week in-office, with more appointments as needed to best support your needs.
Hybrid Model of Care
If you are interested in birthing at the hospital, but would like the concierge support of midwifery care throughout your pregnancy and in the postpartum, a hybrid model of care may be for you! You will receive the same comprehensive care offered to home birth clients in the prenatal and postpartum periods but when it is time for labor and delivery, we will head to the hospital!
